My Days are Full

Hope everyone of you are doing well.  I appreciate your stopping by.  I think Spring has sprung here in my hometown; or at least I hope so...Next week will seem like it regardless of the weather as our Lambs will be arriving...THAT is the sure sign of Spring...Agreed????

I have been really busy for the last few days and will be for another two or three with the canning that was started a few days ago.  I didn't realize there was so much food in the deep freezes that was shouting out "Please cook and can me...I will have frost burn in no time"....:)

This is the Cherry and Bakeapple (Cloudberry) Jams that I made and was very successful with it...Tastes Yummy...This is the first time I have made Cherry jam; actually it was berries intended to be used to make Wine but of course, it didn't make it to its intended use, but that is ok.

Then there were Blackberries and Raspberries that were picked by our very own hands....those had to go, too.

Then today was busier than the rest as we (My DH and & ) made this beautiful "Sweet and Sour Beef"...It is a delicious recipe.  If any of you would like it, I will gladly pass it on...It is made using large amounts of beef, etc., as you can see.

The one thing about all of this wonderful food is that there is always plenty to share with friends and family...I will try some day to get a photo of our storage cupboards..:)
Tomorrow it is  Boiled Beans and then  Ground Beef... Sorry for the long post...enjoy your weekend...Happy St. Paddy's Day to those of you who celebrate.!!!!!

Busy Day

Well, Pardon the Pun, but today has been a very fruitful one for us.  We dug down deep into one of our  freezers and came up with a bunch of fruit to make into jam...This is the time of year when we like to clean out some of the food that we have and can/bottle some of it....Today is a beginning and I hope we can continue until the rest if finished. 

This is a photo of what we did today...We began really early in the morning and took us up to the afternoon...Very enjoyable day, to say the least.  This Jam is made up of what we call Bankberries (Cranberries) that were picked by us, Rhubarb that we grow and applesauce.  Now that makes a very nice jam.

Tomorrow, hopefully, it will be Bakeapple (Cloudberry) Jam Plus Cherry, too.  Will keep you posted on our success...

My Donation

Hi Everyone,

Well, the sun has been shining TWO days in a row...Wow, aren't we lucky!!!

I was pleased this morning to have been able to make a Special Donation to Our Local Hospital.  I did this in memory of my Mother-in-Law who spent time there and even though was 90 years of age,  was quite heavily involved in raising money for different items in the Recreational Area. Believe it or not, she was Secretary in this dept...:)

Of course it was the "Ever Famous....Women Spreading Fish to Dry"...I know, I know, you are tired of looking at it but here it is again...Hopefully a  large amount of tickets will be sold so they can raise a fair amount of  money to purchase some the things they need.

LIGHTHOUSE GIVE AWAY

Greetings from Windy Lord's Cove.  The gales of wind we have had recently is second to none.  :)  Yesterday was a Snowy, Freezing Rain, Rain, Windy Day.  Travelling didn't impress me at all, but thankfully, I made it home in one piece..I think it is time for Spring to show her Mild Side now.

As many of you may have noticed, I posted the date of my Give Away Draw being, Tuesday, Feb. 18th; however, today,Monday, is the 18th and I have decided to go ahead with it.

Hello Everyone,  It took me a while to get back to you but appointments, etc., today took away from my free time.

Ok, here it is:  I assume Everyone likes Lighthouses and  I KNOW it doesn't seem like much but there will be a little extra into the package of the person who wins it. 
This Lighthouse, which measures 5 1/2 in. in lenght  is hooked on Linen, using 100% Wool Yarn that was spun from the fleeces of our locally grown sheep that graze along the seashore.  I have made it into a Magnet; if a Hanger would be preferred by the winner, that can be arranged as a substitute. 

Now, let me see a comment from each of you who would like to win this or join me on my page...I know I'm not a great blogger but work prevents me from doing so at times.

Good Snowy Day from Lord's Cove again today....I don't mind it at all...I can hook away and not worry about feeling guilty because I am not outside doing something like walking, for instance...Shame on Me....!!

Magnets

Hello Everyone....well the weather has been playing havoc here in Lord's Cove, NL. and indeed the whole of the Province, I believe.  The temperature has dipped much lower than we were accustomed to in the last number of years...I guess we are all spoiled from the great weather we have had...  I guess, in the long run, that is not too much to be complaining about when so many other people have so many problems...

Today I am sharing a completely different rug hooking item for me....These are Magnets....my first attempt but won't be my last.  They do take a lot of time to complete but I like hooking them.  Some of those puffins and lighthouses will be Christmas Tree Hangers and Broaches...

Small Hooked Items

I am in the process of hooking a few small items; namely, Puffins and Lighthouses...I hope to do different ones as I go along and I can find some time...(where oh where??)

Those that I am making will be Magnets AND  Hangers, probably broaches, too.  When I have some of them completed, I will post ...It is a long process because of the glueing and felt on the backs..

I never thought I would like to do such small projects but I have to honestly say, I do...After this month is over, I have to get on with the larger projects I have on order.

Another Christmas Custom Order

Hello to You all...Cold day here in the quaint little community of Lord's Cove, Newfoundland...Temperature dipped the lowest for the Winter last night at minus 8...With the wind chill, I bet it was about minus 20....Nice time to be hooking in the warmth of my home.

I have hooked this , what I have named, " A Fishing Community" many times, but I think I like this one the best of all... I like  the way I designed it and the colors I used...It just speaks volumes to me.... I hope you enjoy it and I do hope the recipient liked it as much as I liked hooking it...

In another day or so, I will post a picture of the project I am onto now..

Gift for a Friend

Good Morning to Everyone...Hope your day will be a great one!!

My good friend of many years, Christina, sure Loves to Quilt....as a matter of fact, she has a Facebook Page called just that and if you have a little/lot of time, you should take a look at her wonderful Quilts.  She bought a new sewing machine eight months ago and would you know, it "quit" on her a few days ago.  Now you might as well have cut her right arm off... She is like a "boat without a paddle" without her machine.  As we hadn't exchanged Christmas gifts, I decided to try and cheer her up by Hooking one for her..  My photography skills have NOT improved, but I will share a picture of the little Treasure...

Another Creation

Another Custom Order Mat I hooked to be used as a Christmas Gift for Family.  This mat depicts Four Sisters who are preparing for a Funeral Service in the Morning; two hemming pants, the other two just having tea.  The Guitar, supposedly,  in another Room, signifies the Man who passed away and was a great entertainer.  Of course I named it "The Four Sisters".
